Boca Raton, FL, chiropractor Irene Gold, R.N., B.S., M.A., D.C., has been named Regent of the Year by Sherman College of Chiropractic. This award is presented in recognition of her outstanding and continuous advancement of Sherman College through participation on the college’s Board of Regents, a group dedicated to supporting quality chiropractic education through financial donations and leadership. Regents give visibility and stature to Sherman College through speaking engagements, legislative roles, student referrals, and financial support.
“Dr. Irene Gold is an award winner in the hearts of most of, if not the entire chiropractic profession,” said Sherman President Edwin Cordero, D.C. “Sherman College is forever indebted to Dr. Gold and her husband Reggie’s dedication to the early success of our beloved institution, and we are thankful for her continued support of the college and the profession.”
After meeting and marrying Reggie Gold, D.C., Ph.C., one of the profession’s most dedicated and outspoken chiropractors and philosophers, Dr. Irene Gold’s education grew to include that field, and she graduated from Columbia Institute of Chiropractic (now New York Chiropractic College) in 1974. Gold taught in several different chiropractic colleges for a number of years; first for Columbia Institute, then Sherman College, and finally Pennsylvania College of Straight Chiropractic. Her time at Sherman College included several years serving as academic dean.
Gold taught National Board exam review classes for several years before formally establishing Irene Gold Associates in 1978. This organization is dedicated to preparing chiropractic students for a series of challenging National Board examinations. She takes great pleasure in having successfully prepared thousands of doctors for licensure since that time, including many Sherman College students and alumni.
Sherman College named its 2019 award recipients in May as part of Lyceum, an annual continuing education and homecoming event attended by hundreds of chiropractors and students throughout the U.S. and internationally. Lyceum is held each spring in Spartanburg, SC, and involves three days of seminars, special events and other programs; this year approximately 700 were in attendance.
