What Can You Do with a 10X10 Space?

A. Check Spines for Subluxations
B. Educate the community about chiropractic
C. Promote your business
D. All of the above
I had the opportunity to attend my 1st screening event last week. It was a street fair in Knoxville, TN, with a D.C. who is opening her own practice. I have always heard that screenings are a great way to promote your business, but what I learned was more valuable.
Screenings are 1st about educating the public
Think about this for a second. Statistically, only 6-10% of the US population sees a chiropractor. That leaves 90% in the category that thinks chiropractors are only for low back pain or some other reason that is preventing them from seeking care.
Chiropractors have to educate the general public about chiropractic. They need a simple message they can understand that is not crowded by various sections of the chiropractic community.
Your body is controlled by your nervous system.
Chiropractic removes interference to your nervous system.
This helps you function better.
How many times a day do you pass someone and not share this simple message? I have loved my time at Sherman. I love “geeking out” about chiropractic. There is always someone around to discuss philosophy, patient care, or the troubles of the world through a chiropractic lens. But being surrounded by like-minded individuals for four years gives a false sense that we are the majority. It makes you forget how many people do not know the chiropractic story.
Educating the people who walk into your office is not enough. We live in a sick world. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the U.S. uses 80% of the world’s prescription pain medications. I promise you pharmaceutical companies do not believe this is a problem. I challenge every chiropractor who reads this to do at least one screening event in your community. Only together can we change the direction of our communities and in turn the world.
