Goose Creek, SC, resident Keith Wassung has been named Chiropractic Advocate of the Year by Sherman College of Chiropractic in appreciation of his outstanding contributions, time and commitment to the chiropractic profession and the college. The Chiropractic Advocate of the Year Award is given to a non-chiropractor who has contributed to the advancement of Sherman College in a significant and noteworthy manner.
A former national drug-free weightlifting champion, Wassung turned to chiropractic care when he was diagnosed with a near fatal health condition. His recovery led him to research, write and lecture about chiropractic. He has presented between 200-250 chiropractic lectures to the general public each year for the past 25 years and is a popular speaker at many chiropractic seminars and conventions.
“Rarely do you find someone so dedicated to a profession that he makes it the focus of his life,” says Sherman College President Dr. Edwin Cordero. “Mr. Keith Wassung has a deep and rich knowledge of our beloved profession that rivals many who have their doctor of chiropractic degrees.”
Through his heath challenge and chiropractic miracle and recovery, Cordero says, Wassung has been gifted with the ability to simplify the chiropractic message in order for each individual or group he speaks with to walk away with a greater understanding of the profession. “Keith is a creative genius when it comes marketing our message,” Cordero says. “In a profession where there are many who strongly advocate the benefits of chiropractic, there are few, if any, that have risen to the level of Keith Wassung in tenacity, longevity, and ability.”
Sherman College named its 2014 award recipients May 1-3 as part of Lyceum, an annual continuing education and homecoming event attended by hundreds of chiropractors throughout the U.S. and internationally. Lyceum is held on the college’s campus in Spartanburg, SC, and involves three days of seminars, special events, and other programs.
