Newberry, SC, doctor of chiropractic Allison Kyzer was recently named Reach Out and Recruit (ROAR) Career Advisor of the Year by Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, SC, in appreciation of her contributions, time and commitment to growing the chiropractic profession.

The ROAR Career Advisor of the Year award is given to an exceptional ROAR member who has gone above and beyond to recruit students to Sherman College. ROAR asks its doctors to reach beyond their comfort zone and help Sherman recruit future leaders for the profession, which Dr. Kyzer has certainly done.

Dr. Kyzer graduated from Sherman College in 2012 and has been serving patients at her office, Midlands Chiropractic in Newberry, SC, since 2013. She is constantly on the lookout for ways to encourage students to become future chiropractors. She represents Sherman College regularly at her alma mater, Newberry College, speaking to students about a career in chiropractic. She also offers students the opportunity to shadow and intern in her office as part of their educational experience at Newberry. This past year, two students enrolled at Sherman as the results of her efforts. Four more are planning to enroll later in 2015.

The students she mentors had this to say: “Dr. Kyzer was the first person to show us the true world of chiropractic and is able to effectively communicate chiropractic to others in a way that is simple to understand without belittling its importance. She ultimately changed the paths of our lives for the better, and for that, we could not say how thankful we are. We couldn’t ask for a better mentor or a better person to receive this award.”

Sherman College named its 2015 award recipients April 30-May 2 as part of Lyceum, an annual continuing education and homecoming event attended by hundreds of chiropractors throughout the U.S. and internationally. Lyceum is held on the college’s campus in Spartanburg, SC, and involves three days of seminars, special events, and other programs.
