Sherman College student Chris Boyhan

Local students learned about chiropractic as a growing and fulfilling career choice during a recent Careers After Class event hosted by Spartanburg’s College Town Consortium. The event, held February 27 at the Spartanburg Marriott, brought together organizations and employers looking for talent and local college students looking at career options.

Sherman College student Chris Boyhan represented Sherman College at this non-traditional career fair event, which offered networking with local companies seeking talent, live pitches from potential employers, graduate program information and offerings, and snacks and smoothies.

The event was designed to showcase the career opportunities offered in Spartanburg to encourage students to stay in town to “live, work and play.” The local Chamber of Commerce touts Spartanburg is unmatched statewide in economic development for new investment and job creation, home to a thriving cultural district and diverse educational institutions, and recognized for its award-winning culture of health.

Attendees came from the seven institutions of higher education that call Spartanburg home: Converse College, Sherman College of Chiropractic, Spartanburg Community College, Spartanburg Methodist College, USC Upstate, Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and Wofford College.

Founded in 2003, the College Town Consortium is a not-for-profit consortium of Spartanburg’s seven public and private accredited colleges and universities. Its mission is to capitalize on the advantages offered by the large number of diverse colleges in order to create educational, social and service opportunities for students; to create economic and brand development opportunities for the City; and to create and sustain partnership advantages among the colleges themselves.
