Sherman College’s Evolutionary Percussive Instrument Corrections (EPIC) Technique Club recently partnered with the Stonewood Crossing homeowner’s association to host a club cleanup service event. The event was hosted to clean the HOA’s community greenspace nature trail that borders Sherman College’s 80 acres.
Thirteen students from 10 different clubs, ranging from Little Spines Club to Animal Chiropractic, served a total of 17.75 man-hours. Some students cleared the trail and surrounding areas of debris and trash, while others worked on managing and mowing the lawn of a disabled Army veteran who served in Iraq.
Club president Russell Goff said the group was proud of its great turnout and looks forward to more events in the future. “Sherman’s vision is ‘Adjusting the World for a Better Future,’ and we realize sometimes there are areas in the community that need adjusted – not just their spines,” he explained.
The EPIC Club is a relatively new club on Sherman’s campus. EPIC is a chiropractic technique that analyzes and corrects upper cervical subluxations by a sound wave. Digital x-rays taken in three different dimensions and are used to calculate each patient’s misalignment with 1/100th of a degree precision. The adjusting instrument sends a mechanical soundwave through a stylus into the patient, which causes the top two bones in the vertebra, atlas, and axis, to come into proper alignment.
Sherman College of Chiropractic clubs must host regular community service events to maintain official status. Clubs from Sherman College can often be seen donating blood, cleaning the two-mile stretch of Springfield Road that runs in front of campus, and serving in many other ways throughout the Upstate.
