The choice towards Alternative Medicine has seen a steady rise in the past few years, as more people look outside of mainstream practices. People want a whole body approach that encourages them to be an active participant in their health. Using such things as diet, exercise, and meditation are encouraged to prevent disease, making alternative medicine a more proactive approach to healthcare.
Chiropractic medicine has benefited from this change in care. The projected growth for the profession is 12%, with 53,300 by 2026. As the need for more Chiropractors increases so does the need to educate those in the practice. The length of postgraduate schooling is between 3-4 years, depending on which school is chosen and if the institution offers an articulation agreement with certain colleges.

Paying for a chiropractic education can be daunting. Expect to pay more than $100,000 for tuition over the course of enrollment. Luckily, between work-study programs and scholarships, the majority of students never pay full price. What should be done if taking out a loan isn’t desirable or the school doesn’t award scholarships? Reach out to corporations and nonprofits!
ChiroHealthUSA provides a $10,000 annual Foxworth Family Chiropractic Scholarship for a full-time student enrolled in an accredited chiropractic school. They also provide a matching amount to the student’s school. The award is presented at the FCA National Convention in Orlando, FL.
HOSA partners with STEM Premier to provide scholarships to those pursuing a healthcare profession. Applicants must be a member of both organizations. When submitting an application, an official transcript, three written references, and a one-page personal statement are required.
If going into Animal Chiropractic is an eventual goal, Options for Animals offers three categories to apply for a scholarship: students currently enrolled in chiropractic school, graduates of a chiropractic college, and as continuing education for animal chiropractors. A letter of intent of why animal chiropractic was chosen as a profession, a letter of recommendation, and a curriculum vitae for postgraduates are required for submission.
