Sherman College honored alumni, chiropractors, and supporters during its 41st Lyceum, a homecoming and continuing education event attended by hundreds of chiropractors throughout the U.S. and internationally. Lyceum is held on the college’s campus in Spartanburg, SC, and involves three days of seminars, special events, and other programs. The college is proud to announce the following 2014 award recipients:
- Chiropractor of the Year: Steve Judson, D.C.
- Regent of the Year: Darcy Andersen, D.C.
- Rising Star Award: Allison Kyzer, D.C.
- ROAR Career Advisor of the Year: Dawn Maynard, D.C.
- Distinguished Service Award: Dan and Kristen Denette, D.C.s
- Service to the Profession Award: Steve Tullius, D.C.
- Service to Sherman College Award: Ralf Riddarhall, D.C.
- Service to Sherman College Award: Andreas Soderstrom, D.C.
- Spirit of Sherman College Award: Bryn Gillow, D.C.
- Chiropractic Advocate of the Year: Keith Wassung
Chiropractor of the Year: Dr. Steve Judson
Newington, CT, doctor of chiropractic Steve Judson has been named Chiropractor of the Year by Sherman College of Chiropractic. The Chiropractor of the Year Award is an honor bestowed upon doctors who have, through their service, given extraordinary time and effort to advance Sherman College and the principled chiropractic profession.
Dr. Judson has been practicing in Newington, Connecticut since 2002 and has a great passion for helping others reach their fullest potential through chiropractic. He is a 1998 Life University graduate and has traveled around the world to Russia, Central America, Tobago and the Dominican Republic, educating doctors and patients about the power of the human body and its innate wisdom to heal itself. His practice, Judson Family Chiropractic, is one of the largest chiropractic offices in the northeast.
“Dr. Judson is a man who is instrumental in the present and future of chiropractic,” said Sherman College President Dr. Edwin Cordero. “He has an undeniable commitment to his role as one of the major players in our profession, and he continues to give selflessly of his time, talent and treasure. Sherman College of Chiropractic is fortunate to be one of the causes he supports.”
Through his personal experiences in the field, Dr. Judson has seen a need to strengthen the chiropractic profession. Under the inspiration of mentors and leaders such as Dr. Sid Williams and Dr. Richard Santo, he worked to create what is now known as the Band of Brothers. The Band of Brothers has grown to 30 individual groups around the country and internationally.
Dr. Judson is a constant motivator and inspiration to colleagues. He also supports the Lasting Purpose Principle and the Dynamic Essentials movement, which he says has shaped his life and his family. He and his wife, Tammy, have five children.
Regent of the Year: Dr. Darcy Andersen
York, PA, doctor of chiropractic Darcy Andersen has been named Regent of the Year by Sherman College of Chiropractic. This award is presented in recognition of her outstanding and continuous advancement of Sherman College through participation on the college’s Board of Regents, a group dedicated to supporting quality chiropractic education through financial donations and leadership.
Regents give visibility and stature to Sherman College through speaking engagements, legislative roles, student referrals, and financial support. As a President’s Circle Regent, Dr. Andersen takes her support a step further by giving to the college at a higher level of commitment. Her husband, Vinnie, is dedicated to his wife and their commitment to Sherman College.
Dr. Andersen is a 1989 graduate of Life University, a member of the International Chiropractors Association and Dynamic Essentials, and a solo practitioner in York, PA. She has been a donor to the college since 1997 with her support increasing in recent years.
“Dr. Andersen is devoted to keeping chiropractic pure and supports organizations with that same goal by giving of her time, talents and treasure,” said college President Dr. Edwin Cordero. “She has amazing energy and is a gifted chiropractor.”
