2023 Winter Quarter Interns Ring Out |
As our winter quarter comes to an end, some Sherman interns have a special accomplishment to celebrate! Every intern anticipates completing their clinical hours and proceeding on to graduation or PMOE (Practice Management Observation Elective). While being a "chiropractic intern" is a significant accomplishment in itself, completing this process is equally as important. Following several grueling nights, examinations, boards, and countless clinical hours, students are given a chance to gather in front of their family, peers, and faculty and staff at Sherman to “Ring Out.” Interns ring the bell to signal they have completed the clinic portion of their curriculum and will soon graduate, which is known as "Ringing Out." Ringing Out has become a popular event here on campus at Sherman, and we think after viewing the video below, you'll see why.

As we celebrate, we're excited for our next quarter of interns that will be starting in the clinic soon and how we can be part of their journey. Do you want to help make an intern’s journey a little less stressful? Our “Sponsor an Intern” program was recently launched here at the college to help interns get a jump start on their studies and cope with a financially demanding period. This program provides interns with all the clinical resources they need (clinic jacket, name tag, and business cards) and supports their experience by helping offset clinic operating costs.

| Student Ambassador Spotlight: Kiara Liz Rivera |
Hometown and State: San Juan, Puerto Rico Education: Bachelor’s Degree Major: Biomedical science Minor: Chemistry.
Why Chiropractic: To me, chiropractic is a tool that I can use to connect on deeper level and help others live a healthier and happier life. Favorite thing about Sherman: My favorite thing about Sherman is that it is a small campus, so professors are available for the students. I also love the philosophy of Sherman. |

|
Student Ambassadors play a very important role here at Sherman. One of their roles is to welcome prospective students to campus during Showcase Sherman Weekends. They are also involved in weekly tours. Kiara looks forward to welcoming all students referred to Sherman College for their chiropractic education. |

Building our Community Involvement One Event at a Time |
As our days warm up and spring kicks into gear Sherman College looks for more ways to get out and let our community know about everything we have to offer. Dr. Tara Madden, '13 is working with her team to bridge the gap between Sherman and the Spartanburg community. From themed days at our health center to special events held throughout the year, we want everyone to know Sherman is here and a staple to our community. We feel that demonstrating this commitment is an important part of educating interns to show them that their connection to their community will be a key factor in practice success.

| |
|
Some events that Dr. Madden and her team are quite proud of to date are an annual school supply drive for the Deaf and Blind School, our Halloween Trunk-or-Treat, a Thanksgiving food drive, and our upcoming Egg Hunt. At Sherman, we hope events like these make us stand out in the community as a partner and maybe even connecting an intern with someone looking to begin their chiropractic journey.
