Joseph B. Strauss, D.C., F.C.S.C. |
| Sherman College's President, Dr. Jack Bourla, Pays Tribute to an Unforgettable Dr. Joseph B. Strauss |
I have always been intrigued by the quietest person in the room. When they spoke, it was usually profound, intentional, and moving. They offered a level of mystery and a bit of the unknown. And so it was with Joseph B. Strauss, D.C., F.C.S.C.
Since BJ Palmer’s passing, chiropractic has been left with only a handful of writings. Joe Strauss has been one of the profession’s most prolific authors, having written 24 Blue Books, including seven commentaries on the Green Books. Like his conversations, little was ever wasted on trivia. He thought concisely, wrote concisely, and stood concisely…a bigger giant does not exist. |
He wrote with simplicity so that even the layperson could understand him. His tenderness, which some mistakenly took as timidity, was offset by his boundless certainty, deep thought, and enormous conviction for chiropractic. Those who dared to dig deeper were left with incredible insight, unparalleled awe, and an appreciation for a man who could take the complex and break it down into digestible bites to savor for a lifetime. | Sherman Gets Ready to Support Local Non-profit PAL at the Fastest Night in Spartanburg on April 28th |
In just 23 days, Sherman College will celebrate the fastest night in Spartanburg at the annual Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Criterium. The Criterium is a multi-lap cycling event around downtown Spartanburg on a closed half-mile circuit. |
The event, which is part of the USA CRITS Speed Week series, is notable for its open-air plaza center, dangerously abrupt left bends, and one-of-a-kind ambiance.
The Criterium is a fundraising event hosted by PAL (Play. Advocate. Live-Well.), a Spartanburg non-profit with a mission to transform Spartanburg County into a vibrant, healthy, connected community. Although the CRIT event is open to everyone in the community, Sherman College is excited to be able to host another tailgate tent this year for a celebration with Sherman College staff, faculty, student ambassadors and Chiropractic Student Government (CSG) officers! Proceeds from the event help build new trails, expand wellness in schools, and make local food more affordable.
